What is SW1FT?
SW1FT (St. Wilfrid’s 1 Formula Team) is St. Wilfrid’s Catholic High School’s answer to Formula Schools. The team was established for FS VII in 2002 and has been quite successful. Winning the Bodywork and Aerodynamics Prize, Rookie Category 2003, and also gaining full marks for Teamwork, Rookies Category. Since then it has gone on to win at the big league Expert category, picking up Teamwork Champions, Expert Category, 2005 and the unofficial award that the team are secretly most proud of “Funniest Website”.
Now in its fourth year SW1FT continues to be a huge success both on the national stage and in the local community.
What is Formula Schools?
Formula Schools is a competition set up in 1997, which uses the shop window of motor sports, teams create a business and ultimately a model racing car to race at a miniature Grand Prix at the home of the F1 British Grand Prix, Silverstone.
Now in its 10th year, Formula Schools is a nationwide competition, backed by the learning and skills council amongst others. Teams from all over England and Wales come to compete in the hope of winning the Overall Champions prize.
