Swiftboated

"Swiftboated" or "Swift Boating": The terms "Swiftboated" or "Swift Boating" evolved out of the Swift Vets and POWs for Truth (SBVT [link]) campaign against US Presidential candidate John Kerry in the 2004 election. Some Kerry supporters, claiming that the SBVT campaign was unfair, and that not all of its claims against Kerry were borne out, use the term "Swift Boating" or "swiftboated" to describe any attack on a person that they see as using "cherry-picked" half-truths taken out of context, innuendo, and lies; particularly if such an attack is against critics of the Bush administration.
