Syed Babar Ali, a prominent businessman of Pakistan, is the Chairman of Interbank, and Adviser to Packages Limited. Packages is Pakistan's premier paper mill and manufacturer of packaging material and is recognised for its progressive and professional management. Mr. Babar Ali also serves on the Board of Directors of several well-known Pakistani companies, including local subsidiaries and affiliates of Siemens, Lever Brothers, Nestle, and Coca Cola. He was the International President of the World Wide Fund For Nature (WWF) from 1996 to 1999. Currently, he is a member of the Business Advisory Council of International Finance Corporation, and Pro-Chancellor of Lahore University of Management Sciences. He also acts as Honorary Consul-General of Sweden in Lahore. He is pro-rector of LUMS. He was educated in Aitchison College, Lahore. He has a certain fondness for the school and has contributed lots of money for buildings. Recently he completed a building which serves to be everything from a sports complex to an acting stage.

- Commander of the Royal Order of the Polar Star
- Commander of the Order of the Golden Ark
- Honorary Degree of Doctor of Laws
- Order of the British Empire
