Szczecinek

Szczecinek (Kashubian: Nowé Sztetëno, German: Neustettin) is a town in Middle Pomerania, northwestern Poland with some 40,000 inhabitants. Capital of Szczecinek County in West Pomeranian Voivodship since 1999, previously in Koszalin Voivodship (1950-1998).
City name
The city was founded by duke Warcislaw IV in 1310 and the municipality was modelled after Szczecin. The initial city name was New Szczecin (In Latin: Stetin Nova, in German: Neu Stetin, Neustettin, In Polish Nowy Szczecin, Nowoszczecin 1707) but also Little Szczecin: in German: Klein Stettin, in Polish: Mały Szczecin and now Szczecinek.
