T-15

The T-15 is a Russian nuclear fusion research reactor, based on the (Russian-invented) tokamak design. It was the first fusion reactor to use superconducting magnets to control the plasma.

The T-15 achieved its first plasma in 1988. From 1996 to 1998 a series of upgrades were made, in order to conduct research preliminarily for the design work on ITER, which will also use superconducting magnets.

As of January 2005, experiments are suspended due to a lack of funding.
