THQ Inc. NASDAQ: [THQI]
The name THQ formerly stood for Toy Headquarters, dating from when the company was also a toy manufacturer. However, THQ has produced only video games since 1994.
In addition to intellectual properties such as Destroy All Humans! and Juiced, THQ is also the publisher of video games based on assets from Nickelodeon, Pixar, and WWE. It also published several Sega titles for portable systems.
THQ owns a number of studios which it operates with a good degree of independence.

Cranky Pants Games
Based in Kirkland, WA, their games include [[Summoner: A Goddess Reborn]] and [[Evil Dead: Regeneration]].Kaos Studios
Based in New York City, Kaos Studios were bought by THQ January 2006. Their first game, [[Frontlines: Fuel of War]], is expected to be released in 2007.Rainbow Studios
Based in Phoenix, Arizona, Rainbow Studios are the makers of the hit PS2 game ATV Offroad Fury and ATV Offroad Fury 2, as well as the video game version of the Pixar movie Cars for all major consoles.Based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Relic is a critically acclaimed developer of 3D real-time strategy games. They've created several series, including Homeworld and [[Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War]].
Volition, Inc.
Volition, Inc. is a developer of computer and video games for consoles and Windows-based PCs. Volition is located in Champaign, Illinois. The company was created when Parallax Software (developers of the critically-lauded Descent series) were split in two. The other half was the now-defunct Outrage Entertainment who developed Descent 3 and Alter Echo.With Interplay as a publisher, Volition, Inc. developed the FreeSpace series of space simulation computer games. As Interplay tumbled towards bankruptcy, Volition, Inc. was acquired by THQ. Since then, Volition, Inc. has developed several acclaimed titles including Red Faction, Red Faction II, Summoner, and The Punisher. They are currently developing the Xbox 360 title Saint's Row.
