TUIfly

Encyclopedia : T : TU : TUI : TUIfly

Tuifly is the alliance that links the 7 airlines of TUI Airlines, the largest leisure fleet in Europe with more than one hundred aircraft and number 6 in the ranking of largest European fleet. It's a subsidiarie of the TUI Group, the largest tourism group in Europe. They do scheduled flights as wel as charterflights to more than 150 destinations worldwide departing from more than 60 airports in 9 European countries.

Its name and the actual alliance was created in November, 2005 due to the new marketing strategy of the TUI Group that wants to regroup all its airline activities under the same alliance: TUIfly. As a result all the airlines under TUIfly were rebranded with the name best known in their local market or the name of the principal tour operator for which they operated flights. All the airlines, with the exception of HLX.com, acquired the suffix "-fly" and had their aircraft repainted in the light blue TUI colours with red TUI logo.

TUIfly groups Arkefly (Holland), Jetairfly (Belgium), Hapagfly and HLX.com (Germany), Thomsonfly (United Kingdom), TUIfly Nordic (Sweden) and Corsairfly (France). Each airline specialises in different destinations – around 150 worldwide. TUIfly carries millions of holidaymakers and business passengers every year. In 2004 they had a passenger volume of 23 million and they employ more than 7400 people.
