Channel 9 was a Malaysian private-owned television station which started operations on September 9, 2003 and went off the air on February 1, 2005.

Test transmissions started again on April 1, 2006, airing music videos mostly in Malay.

On April 22, 2006, Channel 9 relaunched under the new name TV9 after being sold to Media Prima, Malaysia's largest media company with the new slogan, Dekat Di Hati. TV9 will air programmes mainly in Malay.

Despite focusing mainly on Malay programming, other races are not side lined. It has Chinese, Korean, Japanese, as well as Indian programmes on a weekly basis. English programmes such as Crocodile Hunter, Mutant X, Band Of Brothers, Guinness World Records are also aired. Children will be treated to Nickelodeon cartoons like Dora the Explorer which are dubbed in Malay. It is aired daily from 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m..

TV9 currently broadcast Edisi 7, a Malay news at 8:00 p.m., courtesy of NTV7, before getting approval to air their own news.

At noon and 12:00 midnight daily, it features Interactive TV services, where music videos is played and at the same time, viewers can chat by SMS.

Daily transmission is from 12:00 p.m. till 1:00 a.m., while official transmission comes on at 3:00 p.m. till 12:00 midnight.
