Taff-Ely was a local government district in Wales from 1974 to 1996.

It was formed in 1974 under the Local Government Act 1972, by a merger of the urban district of Pontypridd, along with Llantrisant and Llantwit Farde Rural District, the Taff's Well ward of Caerphilly urban district, the Llanilterne and Pentyrch parishes from Cardiff Rural District and Llanharan, Llanharry, Llanilid and Peterson-super-Montem parishes from Cowbridge Rural District.

The district was named after the River Taff and the River Ely.

In 1996 the district was abolished, with most going to the new Rhondda Cynon Taff unitary authority, with the Pentyrch community going to Cardiff. [link]
