Taitung County

Taitung County (Traditional Chinese: 台東縣; Hanyu Pinyin: Táidōng Xiàn; Wade-Giles: T`ai-tung Hsien; POJ: Tâi-tang-kōan) is a county in eastern Taiwan. The name means "Eastern Taiwan".
It administers two islands formerly used as prisons currently suffering from environmental damages: Green Island and Orchid Island.
