Takahira Kogoro

Takahira Kogoro (高平 小五郎, January 1854 - 1926) was a Japanese diplomat and ambassador to the United States from 1900 to 1909. Takahira participated in a number of important Japanese-US negotiations, including the Treaty of Portsmouth in 1905, which ended the Russo-Japanese War, and the Root-Takahira Agreement in 1908, which eased Japanese-US tension by defining each nation's role in the Pacific arena.
