Takeda Nobukatsu

(1567-1582) Takeda Nobukatsu, the eldest son of Takeda Katsuyori. The last will of Takeda Shingen was to have Nobukatsu become the next leader over the Takeda when at the age of 16. Shingen wished Katsuyori to act as his guardian.

During the year of 1580, Nobukatsu assisted his father against the Hojo. During the year of 1582, Nobukatsu along with his father both were forced to commit suicide when the Oda/Tokugawa alliance invaded their land of Kai. This happened the same year Nobukatsu was expected to become the new lord of the Takeda.

Nobukatsu makes a small appearance in the 1980 Akira Kurosawa movie Kagemusha.

He is also one of five main playable characters in Visco Games' arcade shoot-em-up Vasara 2, alongside Momochi Sandayu, Seiryubo Seifuu, Akechi Mitsuhide, and the hidden character Saiga Magoichi. In the game, Nobukatsu --- who apparently survived the battle of Temmokuzan, although how he did was never explained --- seeks to kill Oda Nobunaga to avenge his family and revive the Takeda clan. The latter is never accomplished afterwards, however; In his ending, Nobukatsu is shot from behind by Akechi Mitsuhide, who tells Nobukatsu that 'the times do not call for the revival of the Takeda', and dies (but not before making one final attack at Mitsuhide that later kills him in Mitsuhide's own ending).
