Tales of Kidd Funkadelic
Encyclopedia : T : TA : TAL : Tales of Kidd Funkadelic
Tales of Kidd Funkadelic is a 1976 album by the band Funkadelic, released on the Westbound record label.
It was actually released after Funkadelic had left the label, in order to capitalize on Funkadelic's new-found fame. The tracks were recorded at the same time as Hardcore Jollies, and were found to be lacking; hence, they were not included on that album and were belatedy thrown together to form Tales of Kidd Funkadelic. The album is perhaps a bit too varied, at least when compared to their usual strong concepts, but presents a strong set of tracks nonetheless, some of which are still occasionally played live.
Kidd Funkadelic was/is the nickname for guitarist Mike Hampton, who incidentally is a shadow force on this album, while featured strongly on the sibling Funkadelic album of the year, Hardcore Jollies.

Critical response
- "There were still some fine cuts, but the random element prevented it from being a great album because it lacked the thematic organization and vision Clinton provided for the concept LPs" -- [the All Music Guide]
