Tanah Abang

Tanah Abang is a sub-district of Central Jakarta, Indonesia. It hosts the biggest textile market in Southeast Asia. The market has been known to exist since 1735. The market is the distributor of textiles to various provinces.
A small part of the market was destroyed by the fire in February 2003. The cause of fire remains as a controversial issue. Most people put the blame on overcrowding and economic motive.
