The Tao (達悟族), also commonly known as the Yami (雅美), are a Taiwanese aboriginal peoples, native to tiny outlying Orchid Island. Their language is more closely related to those of the Philippines than it is to the aboriginal languages of mainland Taiwan. The Tao people are good at making canoes, which are the symol of their tribe.
