Tar-Amandil

Tar-Amandil (S.A. 192 - 603, r. S.A. 442 - 590) is a fictional character of Middle-earth, the fictional universe created by J. R. R. Tolkien. His name means "Aman-lover", and in Adûnaic is 'Aphanuzîr'. He was legally the third King of Númenor, but was actually its second ruler. Tar-Amandil's father, Vardamir Nólimon, declined to take the throne upon the death of his father, Elros Tar-Minyatur, and so Tar-Amandil is actually the second ruling monarch, but Vardamir Nólimon is still counted in the list of Kings.
Tar-Amandil abdicated in 590 S.A. and was succeeded by his own son, Tar-Elendil. He died in year 603 of the Second Age at the age of 411 years.
Tar-Amandil had three children:
- Tar-Elendil, his eldest son who would succeed his father
- Eärendur, son
- Mairen, daughter
