Taragot
Encyclopedia : T : TA : TAR : Taragot
The Taragot is a Hungarian reed instrument related to the saxophone and clarinet.
It was developed in the late 19th century, as a reinvention of the traditional tarogato (a six-hole double reed shawm) by a collaboration between the Hungarian composer and musicologist Gyula Kaldy and the Budapest instrument maker J.V. Schunda. Modifications included its use of a single reed and Albert system clarinet fingering.
