Tatakā, in Hindu mythology, was a demon who roamed around in the Dhandaka forests, causing a lot of trouble to all the peace loving people who lived there. She was also the mother of Maricha. She was eventually slain by Lord Rama. She was punished by the sage Agastya, who turned her into a Rakshasi, or demon.
