The Tatmadaw (Burmese: တပ္‌မတော္‌; MLCTS: tap ma. taw) is the name of the Burmese military, which comprises of the Armed Forces, the Navy, the Air Force, and nineteen Military Intelligence agencies. The Tatmadaw's highest officials have great economic and social influence in Myanmar, as the government is currently a military junta. The Tatmadaw has been accused of crimes, especially on the minorities of Myanmar, as cited by Amnesty International, news agencies (e.g. Reuters), and governments throughout the world (e.g. United States Department of State).
