Tatsuki Arisawa

is a character in the manga and anime series Bleach. She is 15 years old, and a classmate and old friend of the main character, Ichigo Kurosaki.
Character outline
Tatsuki is a tomboyish practitioner of karate with dreams of becoming a vale tudo champion. She does not seem to possess any excessively feminine qualities as is typical of female manga characters, although she does spell her name using hiragana (たつき), which is considered somewhat feminine as she believes the kanji of her name does not look cute.
Tatsuki is overprotective of her friends, especially Orihime Inoue, who is often approached by men looking for a date, or by the school lesbian, Chizuru Honshō. Tatsuki is highly skilled at martial arts, and places high in Japan's national karate competitions, coming in second in her age group despite having a broken arm at the time. She has also tutored Orihime in karate.
Tatsuki has spiritual pressure and can see ghosts, hollows and shinigami.
History
Not much is known about Tatsuki's personal history other than her past relations with Ichigo. She has known Ichigo since the age of four, when they had their first karate sparring (Tatsuki won). They studied in the same dojo for at least another 5 years until Ichigo finally beat Tatsuki in karate. (His mother died shortly after.)
At some point during middle school, Tatsuki stopped some bullies from cutting Orihime's hair. Orihime's hair had already been cut by the bullies before, right before her brother died. Because Orihime did not have the nerve to stand up for herself, Tatsuki beat up the bullies and promised to protect Orihime from anyone who dared to make her cry. The two became best friends, especially since Tatsuki's parents disapproved of her spending so much time with a boy like Ichigo.
Unusual for reoccurring characters (i.e. Orihime Inoue, Uryū Ishida, and Chad, who all live alone), Tatsuki lives with both her parents.
It is also known that Tatsuki has visited Ichigo's home in the past, which is somewhat of a phenomenon, since Ichigo never admitted a girl (with the exception of Tatsuki) into his home until Rukia Kuchiki later on.
It is seen that Tatsuki was watching the battle between Grimmjow and Ichigo. In addition, she was able to survive the attack by Yammy, whereas regular unspiritual citizens were destroyed.
Trivia
- Bleach creator Tite Kubo assigned several characters theme songs which are used to give insight to characters that might not normally appear in the run of the manga or anime. In Tatsuki's case, the song is Mou Aoi Tori wa Tobanai (meaning "the blue bird doesn't fly anymore"), by hàl.
- She likes to wear shorts and cargo pants
- Tatsuki is a member of the Student Disciplinary Committee
- Her favorite food is apple pie
- In The Bleach Character Book: Souls, there is a picture of Tatsuki in shinigami clothes with a canine animal attached to a sword.
- According to a Radio Kon interview, Tatsuki claims to have C-cup breasts.
