Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS)is a regional political party in the southern Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. Its main agenda is the creation of a separate state of Telangana from Andhra Pradesh. The founder and party chief is K. Chandrashekar Rao who is a member of the United Progressive Alliance (Coalition Government led by Indian National Congress). He is the Minister of Labour in Dr. Manmohan Singh's cabinet.

Mr. K. Chandrasekhara Rao was a member of the Telugu Desam Party until he quit the party and formed the TRS in. 

TRS has had spectacular successes in the local body polls conducted in 2001. Just under a year, the party won 84 ZPTC seats and emerged as a force to reckon in Telangana region.

In 2004 assembly elections, TRS forged an alliance with Congress (I) and won 26 assebly seats. The party also won 5 parliament seats. It joined the governments at both state and central level.

Mr. Rao and his counterpart Mr. Narendra repeatedly assured the people of Telangana that the formation of new state is on the cards and it can happen 'any moment'

But series of events which took place swiftly in 2005 have dragged TRS and Mr. Rao into an unending controversy.
