Telep (Телеп) is a quarter of the city of Novi Sad in the Serbian province of Vojvodina.
Name
Word "telep" means "settlement" in Hungarian. The original name of this city quarter was "új telep", which means "new settlement". It is interesting that name of the neighbouring city quarter, Novo Naselje, also means "new settlement" in Serbian.
Borders
The northern borders of Telep are Futoški put (Futog Road) and Novosadski put (Novi Sad Road), the western border is Šumska ulica (Šumska Street), the southern border is Podunavska ulica (Podunavska Street), and the eastern borders are Ulica Ribarsko ostrvo (Ribarsko ostrvo Street), Ulica Sima Matavulja (Simo Matavulj Street), and Subotički bulevar (Subotica Boulevard).
Neighbouring settlements
The neighbouring settlements are: Novo Naselje in the north, Adamovićevo Naselje and Liman in the east, Kameničko ostrvo (not a settlement, but tourist destination) in the south, and Adice in the west.
Parts of Telep
Telep is divided into Northern Telep and Southern Telep. A new Somborski bulevar (Sombor Boulevard) will be built between these two parts of the settlement, and it will be the main street in this part of the city.
Ethnic groups
Telep once was an ethnic Hungarian quarter of Novi Sad, while today it is a quarter heavily populated by Serb refugees from Bosnia and Croatia.
