Tensta
Encyclopedia : T : TE : TEN : Tensta
Tensta is a suburban borough (stadsdelsområde) of Stockholm, marked with high unemployment and a high concentration of immigrants.
Modern Tensta with its concrete apartment buildings of Plattenbau style was constructed in the 1960s. Like nearby Rinkeby and Hjulsta, it was part of the Million Programme, and became in the late 1960s known nationwide. This was partially because lots of people moved in when the area was still a construction site, and it took years before the metro station opened.
In 2005 the Swedish politician Nalin Pekgul decided to move from Tensta with her family because of what she described as lack of security. [link]
