Terrorsaur was one of the original members of Megatron's Darkside crew who stole the Golden Disk from the Cybertron archives. Somewhat similar in personality and nature to the Decepticon Starscream, Terrosaur wanted to usurp the leadership of Megatron and lead the Predacons. Terrorsaur's weapons include an energy pistol, eye beams and shoulder-mounted missiles (more than the one or two weapons that the other Predacons have).
To this end, Terrosaur challenged Megatron several times, vying for leadership. And, true to Starscream's legacy, he always lost. In the episode "Power Surge" Terrosaur found a large quantity of Energon, and used it to augment his power and finally defeat Megatron. But Megatron was rebuilt, and Terrorsaur's reign was short-lived. However, Megatron kept him in service despite knowledge of Terrorsaur's treachery because of the limited number of troops under his command.
In later episodes, he seems to have abandoned his ambition to overthrow Megatron and become at least an obedient, if not loyal, soldier. He seemingly died in the Season 2 Premiere after colliding with Scorponok and falling into a lava pit while being altered by the quantum surge that created the Transmetals.
A transmetal toy of Terrorsaur was made, but never utilized in the show, since he seemingly died just before the quantum wave turned some of the cast into transmetals, though his hand was seen glowing in the same way as the other Transmetals before sinking into the lava. (He returned in the pages of Transformers: Universe. Since Unicron was pulling victims from different times and dimensions, it's possible he pulled Terrorsaur from just before he died in the lava.)
Toys
The original Terrorsaur toy was a flip-changer which came with a gun accessory. It was later recolored as Lazerbeak, Hydra, Fractyl and Swoop.A transmetal Terrorsaur toy, with the tertiary form of a VTOL jet, was released, although this he never had this form in the cartoon (though - as he was being transformed by the wave that created transmetals in the cartoon as he died - it is quite possible that, had he survived, he would have looked very similar to his transmetal toy). The coloration of the transmetal Terrorsaur toy more closely resembled Lazerbeak, and oddly enough the toy was later recolored in Beast Machines as the Dinobot Terranotron, whose colors more closely resembled Terrorsaur. There were plans to make a transmetal Fractyl toy which would have been yet another repaint of this toy, but it was never released.
In the Japanese Beast Wars Metals Manga, Terrorsaur lived after the transmetallization, though he was later killed by a revived Optimus Primal.
The Dinobot Terranotron was a red repaint of transmetal Terrorsaur.
In (a later toyline and separate Transformers Universe) the transmetal Terrorsaur toy was remolded and released as a Decepticon. He was partnered with the Mini-Con Ironhide. In the Dreamwave Productions Armada comic book series, he became one of the Four Horsemen of Unicron.
Motto: "The strong take, the weak give --to me!"
Bio: Terrorsaur was the embodiment of the lowest common denominator. This simple-minded hoodlum gravitated to the Decepticon army's "might makes right" propaganda because he craved power and luxury, but didn't want to work to achieve them. He decided that he could use his skills to simply overpower the weak and take what he wanted, and the Decepticons provided him the perfect opportunity to do so. Even they might have shied away from this obnoxious, loud-mouthed recruit, if not for his preternatural abilities as a warrior. Although he spoke with the unrefined vernacular of a street thug, Terrorsaur became a sleek, sophisticated killer on the battlefield. More than one of his fellow Decepticons commented on the bizarre, almost supernatural transformation that he underwent during combat, which helped stoke his considerable ego. Of the four Transformers remade to serve Unicron, Terrorsaur is the only one who seemed destined to gladly embrace the darkest path.Weapons and Abilities: Subject possessed a high-level of strength and endurance, but only average intelligence. However, his natural instincts as a warrior, both on the air and the ground, made him one of the most formidable Decepticons in battle. His robot mode's top flight speed was 300 mph, but he could reach speeds of up to 450 mph using his booster thrusters in beast mode. Subject was particularly adept at using his razor-sharp, super-hard talons and wings to pick off foes on the battlefield.
Weaknesses: Subject's teeth in beast mode are relatively brittle, making them susceptible to breakage when trying to bite a sturdy object. He's very sensitive about this minor flaw in light of his otherwise impressive capabilities.
Armada Terrorsaur appeared as a minion of Unicron in the Transformers: Energon comic book series.
Transformers: Energon #30 – Flashback to the war on Cybertron long ago where
Armada Terrorsaur also was set to appear in the unreleased issue 31 of the Transformers: Energon comic series.
Beast Wars Terrorsaur would reappear in the comic book series in his original form as one of the Transformers kidnapped by
The Dinobot Swoop was a repaint of the original Terrorsaur toy.
The original transmetal Terrorsaur was planned to be repainted as transmetal Fractyl, a Botcon exclusive, but the toy was never released. Transmetal Fractyl appeared in the Transformers: Universe - Wreckers comics and a prototype of the toy was created.
