Tetra- is a Greek prefix meaning 4 (in constrast to quad- as in quadruped, which is Latin). Examples of words that use the 'tetra-' prefix include:
- Tetrahedron, a pyramid shape with four trangular faces
- Carbon tetrachloride, an organic chemical compound with one carbon atom and four chlorine atoms; many other instances exist where 'tetra-' preceds an element name in the context of the name of a molecule
- Tetrachord, a musical chord or simultaneity with four pitches or pitch classes
- Tetraodontiformes, a kind of fish with four shapes of teeth
- Tetralogy, is a literary work composed of four distinct works
- Tetragrammaton, a four-letter word in Hebrew
- Tetramorph, a symbolic arrangement of four different elements or forms
- Tetration, also known as iterated exponentiation, the fourth mathematical operation following in sequence after addition, multiplication and exponentiation.
