The Blues Brothers Band was the backing band for John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd's Saturday Night Live (SNL) side-project, The Blues Brothers.

Led by SNL keyboardist, Paul Shaffer, the band consisted of some of soul music's most powerful players and some SNL band regulars. The Original Line up consisted of:

Elwood Blues (Aykroyd) on Blues Harp and Vocals,
"Joliet" Jake Blues (Belushi) on Lead Vocals,
Steve "The Colonel" Cropper on Guitar,
Donald "Duck" Dunn on Bass,
Matt "Guitar" Murphy on Guitar,
Paul "The Shiv" Shaffer on Keyboards,
Steve "Getdwa" Jordan on Drums,
Tom "Triple Scale" Scott on Sax,
Tom "Bones" Malone on Trombone and Sax,
Alan "Mr. Fabulous" Rubin on Trumpet and
Lou "Blue Lou" Marini on Sax.

In the film,

Murphy "Murph" Dunne played Keyboards
Willie "Too Big" Hall played Drums,

replacing Shaffer and Jordan, who by that time were in the house band on Late Night with David Letterman.

Tom Scott is heard on the recordings for the film, but doesn't appear on screen

After John Belushi died, and to this day, the band has played music festivals internationally with blues vocalists such as Larry "T" Thurston, Eddie "Knock on Wood" Floyd, Tommy "Pipes" McDonnell, and Rob "The Honeydripper" Paparozzi.
