The Blues Brothers Band was the backing band for John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd's Saturday Night Live (SNL) side-project, The Blues Brothers.
Led by SNL keyboardist, Paul Shaffer, the band consisted of some of soul music's most powerful players and some SNL band regulars. The Original Line up consisted of:
- Elwood Blues (Aykroyd) on Blues Harp and Vocals,
- "Joliet" Jake Blues (Belushi) on Lead Vocals,
- Steve "The Colonel" Cropper on Guitar,
- Donald "Duck" Dunn on Bass,
- Matt "Guitar" Murphy on Guitar,
- Paul "The Shiv" Shaffer on Keyboards,
- Steve "Getdwa" Jordan on Drums,
- Tom "Triple Scale" Scott on Sax,
- Tom "Bones" Malone on Trombone and Sax,
- Alan "Mr. Fabulous" Rubin on Trumpet and
- Lou "Blue Lou" Marini on Sax.
- Murphy "Murph" Dunne played Keyboards
- Willie "Too Big" Hall played Drums,
- Tom Scott is heard on the recordings for the film, but doesn't appear on screen
