The Canaries

The Canaries has been the nickname of Norwich City FC since about 1907.

Prior to that date, the club was known as The Citizens, but the name, originally applied by a manager (keen on the fad for breeding canaries) to his players, became increasingly associated with the club.

By 1907, this had reached such a situation that the club decided to abandon its previous kit of blue and white halves in favour of the yellow shirts that can be seen to this day.
