The Corporation (professional wrestling)
Encyclopedia : T : TH : THE : The Corporation (professional wrestling)
The Corporation was a stable in the World Wrestling Federation (now World Wrestling Entertainment) lead by WWF (now World Wrestling Entertainment or WWE) Chairman Vince McMahon. The Corporation intended to secure total control of the WWF, crushing rebels such as Triple H, Mankind and "Stone Cold" Steve Austin in the process. The Corporation was formed on November 15, 1998 when Shane and Vince McMahon reconciled, joining forces with The Rock, who was The Corporation's main star, holding the WWF Championship three times while part of the group.
The members of the Corporation began to dwindle throughout 1999. Mankind, Ken Shamrock, Big Show and Test formed The Union to oppose the remaining members. The Rock eventually left after losing to Stone Cold Steve Austin at WrestleMania XV and "Backlash". Triple H who turned on X Pac would then take the Rock's place. Vince McMahon then allied with The Undertaker's Ministry of Darkness, forming the Corporate Ministry. The Corporate Ministry would fight against Austin, The Rock and Mankind throughout mid-1999. After the Undertaker was injured, the Corporation allied with D-Generation X at WrestleMania 2000, creating the McMahon-Helmsley Faction.

The Union
The Union (aka U.P.Y.O.R.S.: The Union of People You Oughta Respect, Son ) was a stable made up of wrestlers who came together because they felt they were getting screwed by The Corporation. These wrestlers include former Corporation members Mankind, Ken Shamrock, Big Show and Test. Vince McMahon, who had been ousted from the Corporation, briefly led the Union into battle with the Corporation, until he was later revealed as the "Higher Power" of the Corporate Ministry. The Rock, a former Corporation member himself, was an "implied" member, but never stood with them because of his "lone ranger" gimmick. The gimmick was a partial shot at Jesse Ventura, who tried to get a union started in wrestling many times in the past.
