- ''This article is about the indie rock band. For the manga, see DearS.
The band formed in 1995 and released their first album, End of a Hollywood Bedtime Story, in 2000. In 2001 and 2002 they also released the EPs Orchestral Pop Noir Romantique and Protest, as well as a collection of unreleased songs, Nor the Dahlias. They have opened for Sloan and Morrissey. In 2003 they released their second full-length album, No Cities Left.
The lineup of the band changes frequently, the only constant member being Murray Lightburn. The current members of the band are George Donoso, Valerie Jodoin-Keaton, Patrick Krief, Martin Pelland, and Natalia Yanchak - and have been since 2004.
The band's music has been described as a cross between The Smiths, Serge Gainsbourg and Joy Division, with Lightburn's singing voice being likened to that of Blur's Damon Albarn and, more obviously, Morrissey of The Smiths.
New Album
On April 26th 2006 Murray posted a MySpace blog which contained information about their upcoming album. Titled as Gang of Losers, it's set to be released at the end of August 2006, containing 12 tracks which run to a total of roughly 48 minutes.
The musical content of the album is unknown apart from what has been described by Murray, who described it as, "doesn't sound like anything else and it's pretty relentless. As I think we've mentioned before, it is somewhat of a stripped down, raw affair."
The seventh track "Fear Made The World Go 'Round" is on the band's MySpace and more material can be expected from the 30th of April when they start playing some shows.
