The Disciples are a London band, taken under Jah Shaka's wing, and named The Disciples to reflect their Gnostic/Acolyte musical visions. They are led by the imaginative Russ Disciples, a talented musician who rejects cliche in favour of innovation, a factor which was a hallmark of reggae, arguably, until the late 90's when UK reggae was largely taken over by "steppers" a rigidly conservative and formulaic sub genre of roots reggae, once popular in the late 70's.
