"The Girl Who Slept Too Little" is the second episode of The Simpsons seventeenth season. It aired September 18, 2005. [The Simpsons Official Site] has the title for this episode mistakenly as "The Girl Who Knew Too Little". The Title "The Girl Who Slept Too Little" is a take on the 1997 movie titled "The Man Who Knew Too Little" starring Bill Murray. It's also possibly a take on the 1956 movie "The Man Who Knew Too Much" starring James Stewart and Doris Day. This is not the first time this title has been parodied; see "The Boy Who Knew Too Much" and "The Dad Who Knew Too Little".
Synopsis
The Simpsons protest the construction of a stamp museum next to their home and successfully have it relocated to a cemetery lot, but are dismayed to see the old cemetery moving next door. Lisa soon finds herself suffering fright-induced sleepless nights and runs to her parents' bed. Homer and Marge attempt spending a night in their daughter's room to convince her that it's safe, but are quickly scared away. They turn to a psychiatrist for advice, but Lisa decides to face her fears alone one night in the cemetery, with dramatic results.Trivia
- Groundskeeper Willie has a cousin named "Gravedigger Billy", who may be as disturbed as he, if not more. He looks a lot like Willie, but with white whiskers and a cataract in his left eye.
- Homer acknowledges his mental acumen and memory may be affected by his numerous head injuries.
- Soundtrack includes the song "Eve of Destruction".
- As a baby, Lisa powders and diapers herself. Maggie did a similar trick in another episode while staying with Marge's sisters.
- The book "The Land of Wild Beasts" is an obvious parody of "Where the Wild Things Are" by Maurice Sendak, right down to the artwork.
- This was originally scheduled to air May 15, 2005, as the sixteenth season finale, but due to the changed broadcast date of The Father, The Son and The Holy Guest Star it had to be cancelled for that time.
- The stamp museum sign "The Fathers (and mothers) of Invention" is a reference to Frank Zappa's first band, The Mothers of Invention, of whom Matt Groening is a big fan.

Wild Thing 2: What? Lisa, you're eight years old. You're gonna be afraid of some things.
Lisa: But I'm too smart to be scared.
Wild Thing 2: Everyone has something to fear, not matter how smart or brave they are. I'm scared of her.
Female Wild Thing: No, you're afraid of intimacy.
Wild Thing 2: That's because I know you'll eat me after we mate.
Female Wild Thing: Your brother didn't seem to mind.
Lisa: Ya know, you look scary, but when you see past that, (giggles) you're just silly! (the beasts make affectionate noises) But wait. What am I gonna do with that creepy cemetery?
Female Wild Thing: You can draw the blinds, you silly goose!
Wild Thing 2: Or get a night light.
Lisa: My dad says they're too expensive.
(the beasts make annoyed noises)
Wild Thing 1: Oh, for God's sake, they're four bucks a piece! - Lou: Chief, you gotta come down now.

Alexander Graham Bell stamp: I'm Alexander Graham Bell, inventor of the telephone.
Elisha Gray stamp: You stole it from me, Elisha Gray
Alexander Graham Bell stamp: Read the patent number, bitch.
Bell shows a medal with "Patent 174465"[link] on it - Homer (salutes): No soldier left behind.
- Homer: Look on the bright side, Marge. When I die, you can mourn me from the bathroom. That's multi-tasking. [audio clip]
- Gravedigger Billy: Now, Willie, that pot of gold I found is right down there.(indicates an empty grave)
Groundskeeper Willie (looks into the grave): All I see is an empty grave. Why don't ya fill it, you lazy bastard? (Billy swings the shovel upon Willie, but the scene cuts to Homer, Marge, and Lisa.) - Giant prawn in Commercial: "Maximum two servings!"
Homer(Leans in doorway): That is bull (Bleep), Man!
