The Jeff Beck Group

Encyclopedia : T : TH : THE : The Jeff Beck Group

The Jeff Beck Group was a rock band formed in 1968. Their unique and innovative approach to heavy-sounding blues was a major influence on popular music in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Jeff Beck is considered to be one of the greatest electric guitar players of that era along with Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton and Jimmy Page.

The original band consisted of Beck on guitar, Rod Stewart on vocals, Ron Wood on bass, Nicky Hopkins on piano and organ, and Mick Waller on drums. This lineup would produce only 2 albums (on the second, Mick Waller was replaced by drummer Tony Newman). Beck continued to lead later versions of The Jeff Beck Group using other musicians, up until 1972 when he finally disbanded them.
