The Kentucky Kernel

The Kentucky Kernel is the student newspaper of the University of Kentucky. The Kernel's first issue was in 1915, and it became a daily paper in 1966. In 1972, the Kernel gained financial independence from of the university, although its office remains on campus to this day.
The Kernel is distributed free on and around the University of Kentucky campus, with a circulation of 17,000. Its sole source of revenue is advertising.
