The 2002 film The Mothman Prophecies is an adaptation of the 1976 book The Mothman Prophecies by parapsychologist and Fortean John Keel, described as nonfiction.
The film starred Richard Gere as a reporter of The Washington Post who is drawn to Point Pleasant, West Virginia to investigate a series of strange events. The film featured some of the same themes and accounts as the book but in a much more fictionalized manner, and it received lukewarm reviews.
