The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
Encyclopedia : T : TH : THE : The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh is an American animated television series made by The Walt Disney Company, and inspired by A. A. Milne's Winnie-the-Pooh stories. The series first aired from 1988 to 1991 on ABC. Reruns continued to air on ABC until 2002 and now air early in the mornings on Disney Channel and continues to entertain young audiences to this day.
In addition to Pooh, Piglet, Tigger, Rabbit, Eeyore, Owl, Kanga, Roo, and Christopher Robin, there are also new characters that were not in Milne's stories, such as Gopher, Christopher Robin's mother, Owl's cousin Dexter, Kessie the Bluebird, Junior Heffalump (and his parents), Skippy the Sheepdog, Stan Woozle & Heff Heffalump, and other characters.
One notable difference between the television series and the Pooh movies is that on the television program, Christopher Robin speaks with a distinctly American accent, it is the first time since the original version of Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree; in the films, he has an English accent.
This series is based on the movie titled The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh which is based on the Winnie the Pooh books by A. A. Milne.
Recently, The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh was removed entirely from Toon Disney along with other popular Disney animated series and is now only seen daily at 6:00/5:00 A.M. on Disney Channel.
The lyrics to the program's opening theme song were:
''Gotta get up, I gotta get going
''I'm gonna see a friend of mine
''He's round and he's fuzzy, I love him because he's just
''Pooh Bear, Winnie-the-Pooh Bear
''Lookin' for fun, chasin' some honeybees
''Pooh Bear, I know he's out there
''Rumbly tumbly, climbin' a honey tree
''Fun never ends for us, we're so adventurous
''At least every now and again
''And when we're alone, and there's nobody home
''It's nice to be able to count on a friend like
''Pooh Bear, Winnie-the-Pooh Bear
''Wherever you go, oh won't you take me please
''Pooh Bear, I gotta be there
''It's me and its you, a silly old Winnie-the-Pooh
Before Sterling Holloway's death, Jim Cummings became the voice of Winnie the Pooh.
