The New York Times Manual of Style and Usage
Encyclopedia : T : TH : THE : The New York Times Manual of Style and Usage
The New York Times Manual of Style and Usage is a style guide (copyright 1999) by Allan M. Siegal and William G. Connolly.
Although it was written for The New York Times journalists, it has also been published for use by others. Much of the information is neither specific to The Times or New York.
Some difference from the Associated Press style book are:
- The Times' manual gives rationale for many practices that the AP stylebook does not.
- The Times' guide is also self-indexed; the AP's book has separate sections for sports and weather entries, and it combines many entries under such terms as "weapons" and "weather".
