The Rapture is a indie rock-post punk influenced rock band with elements of acid house. They are signed to the DFA record label which attends to the dance-punk tendencies which the band emits. The four-piece have received critical acclaim both Stateside and throughout Japan and The UK. The Rapture formed in 1998 and are currently based out of New York City. In November 2000, the Rapture gained prominence by performing at Wild Turkey Breakfast and gained more widespread popularity after the release of the singles "House of Jealous Lovers" and "Sister Saviour" from their first full album, Echoes.
In January 2004, the band acted as main support to Funeral For a Friend on the NME Awards Tour, alongside other burgeoning acts Franz Ferdinand and The Von Bondies. Later that year,The Rapture performed on the main stage of the Curiosa Festival alongside Interpol, Scarling., Mogwai, Cursive, The Cooper Temple Clause, Head Automatica, and their own idols The Cure.
In June 2006, they announced the completion of their second full-length album, Pieces of the People We Love, to be released in September. Paul Epworth, Ewan Pearson and Danger Mouse are producing, and the album features a funkier edge.
