Summary
Angel is captured and enslaved in a fighting club, and must fight his way to freedom else rely on Cordy and Wes to find him.Expanded overview
A man visits Angel Investigations seeking expert help on his brother's disappearance. He tells them that some demons took him away and reveals that his brother owed money to dangerous people involved in illegal bets. Angel begins his investigation trying to find him, but it's all a setup and he's caught in a net of enslaved demons having to fight for their freedom. They only get freedom after 21 kills, and to make sure they don't try to escape they are made to wear a magical bracelet that turns them into dust should they cross strategically drawn red lines. It turns out that the two brothers were together in the set-up and it was all a trap.Angel tries to convince the demons to fight their oppressors, but to no avail. Meanwhile, Wesley and Cordelia try to find a way to set him free. Angel refuses to fight, but has to kill one of the demons to save his own life. Lilah Morgan tries to win him to Wolfram & Hart, but Angel also refuses to do so and is returned to the pit to fight for his life. However, it was not all in vain and he seems to have touched a nasty demon called Trepkos who everyone is afraid of. This is not evident until Angel is pitted against Trepkos and refuses to kill him even though he could have done. While this happens, Wesley and Cordelia find out that a horse hair can be used to open the bracelets and hurry to the scene.
In the end, Trepkos also forgives Angel and refuses to kill him while another demon steals the key to the bracelets from Wesley and liberates them all. Chaos ensues and in the fight, they kill the brother and put an end to the fights. The episode ends with Cordelia pointing out that they might just have set free a bunch of demons, which is the opposite to what they should be doing.
