The Shopping Channel is a Canadian cable television shopping network. The Shopping Channel is a division of Rogers Media. The network is headquartered in Mississauga, Ontario. The channel showcases different products throughout the day of which viewers can purchase.

History

The Shopping Channel went on the air on January 1, 1987

The Shopping Channel started out as CHSC Canadian Home Shopping Channel. The CRTC made it a condition of license that CHSC not use live motion video to demonstrate products, but rather were allowed a slide-show format.

Criticism

As with most home shopping cable channels, the products mainly aimed at a female audience, such as jewelry, and dresses. It is interesting to note that when they were CHSC there was more variety of products, including home electronics.
