The Surfrider Foundation USA is a U.S. 501(3)(c) non-profit environmental organization working to preserve oceans, waves, and beaches. Through local chapters all over the USA and in many European countries, Surfrider organizes demonstrations and activism for the ocean environment.

Mission statement
The Surfrider Foundation is a non-profit environmental organization dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of the world's oceans, waves and beaches for all people, through conservation, activism, research and education.History
The Foundation was started in 1984 when a group of surfers joined together to combat beach pollution. The organization was recognized as a 501(3)(c) organization in 1991.Programs
- Respect the Beach - a coastal education program to educate students
- Blue Water Task Force - a collection of 25 chapters that, on a weekly basis, monitor the ocean water and report on its quality
- Rashguard.org - Reports beach water quality to the public
- Beachscape - A citizen-based coastal mapping project to create coastline
- Snowrider Project - educate people about the hydrological cycle
