The Surfrider Foundation USA is a U.S. 501(3)(c) non-profit environmental organization working to preserve oceans, waves, and beaches. Through local chapters all over the USA and in many European countries, Surfrider organizes demonstrations and activism for the ocean environment.

Mission statement

The Surfrider Foundation is a non-profit environmental organization dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of the world's oceans, waves and beaches for all people, through conservation, activism, research and education.

History

The Foundation was started in 1984 when a group of surfers joined together to combat beach pollution. The organization was recognized as a 501(3)(c) organization in 1991.
