The Other is a 1972 chiller directed by Robert Mulligan and written by Tom Tryon, who was also the author of the novel. It stars Uta Hagen, Diana Muldaur, Chris Udvarnoky, Martin Udvarnoky, Norma Connolly, Victor French, Loretta Leversee, Lou Frizzell and Portia Nelson.

Plot

Set in rural New England in the 1930s, twin boys are born. Niles is undeniably good, but Holland seems to have something of an evil streak. Despite their different dispositions, Holland and Niles are very close. However, after Holland dies by falling into a well, an eerie string of events unfolds.

As in the tradition of Hitchcock, though certainly a horror film, there is little blood or gore.

Trivia

Though not featured, John Ritter makes one of his earliest appearances in this film.
This is the only movie appearance by the twins Chris and Martin Udvarnoky, the featured stars.
