Thrud
Encyclopedia : T : TH : THR : Thrud
Thrud (Old Norse Þrúð) was the daughter of Thor and Sif in Norse mythology. Thrud is the sister of Modi and half sister to Magni and Ull. She was a Valkyrie who served the einherjar in Valhalla.
Thrud was promised to Alvis, a dwarf, in exchange for which Alvis made weapons for the gods. Thor devised a plan to stop Alvis from marrying his daughter. He told Alvis that, because of his small height, he had to prove his wisdom. Alvis agreed and Thor made the tests last until after the sun had risen--all dwarves turned to stone when exposed to sunlight, so Alvis was petrified and Thrud remained unmarried.
It is unclear whether she survives Ragnarok with her brothers Magni and Modi.
She is mentioned in Snorri Sturluson's Edda (see Alvíssmál).

Thrud appears as a major character in the Danish young adult fantasy novel Erik Menneskesøn by Lars-Henrik Olsen (Høst & Søns, 1986). Although she is a mythological character in her own right and of presumably considerable age, she is presented as the physical equivalent of about fourteen and becomes a serious love interest for the book's hero, a boy from our time and world summoned to Asgård.
Thrud the Barbarian is also a character from a fantasy comic set in the Warhammer Fantasy world.
