Tikhvin

Tikhvin (Russian: , Finnish: ) is a town in the northeast of Leningrad Oblast of Russia, 200 km east of St. Petersburg, at . Tikhvin is the administrative center of Tikhvinsky District. Population: 63,338 (2002 Census).
It was first documentally mentioned in 1383. In the 15th–16th centuries it was an important religious center of northwestern Russia. The Day of the City is celebrated on July 9.
