Tim "Herb" Alexander (born April 10, 1965 in Cherry Point, North Carolina. Described as "one of the most innovative drummers in the drumming community", Alexander is known best for playing in the rock band Primus on Tales From The Punchbowl, Pork Soda, Sailing The Seas of Cheese, Frizzle Fry and Suck On This. He left Primus in 1996, only to rejoin in 2003 for the album Animals Should Not Try to Act Like People and recent tours. He has also played in the indie band Laundry, the theatrical group Blue Man Group, and occasionally with the Las Vegas-based improvisational rock band Uberschall. His nickname comes from his fondness for herbal remedies.

Although he states that he was originally inspired to become a rock drummer by John Bonham and Neil Peart, Primus guitarist Larry LaLonde claims Alexander's drum beats are mostly influenced by African Jùjú music. Prior to joining Primus, he played and recorded with Major Lingo, which at the time was a ska-based rhythm band that featured a lap steel guitar as the lead instrument, played by Tony Bruno.

Alexander was the first drummer of A Perfect Circle performing live with the band for very early shows and on the track "The Hollow" on the band's debut album, Mer de Noms. He is listed as a member in the band's DVD/CD release aMOTION.

He currently is completing recordings on an album with experimental band Fata Morgana, which features guest bassists Tony Levin of Peter Gabriel and Paz Lenchantin of A Perfect Circle. An April 26, 2006, billboard.com story reported that Alexander will be the drummer in a reunited Meat Puppets lineup. The band will feature original members Chris Kirkwood and Curt Kirkwood. Alexander will take the place of original drummer Derrick Bostrom, who declined an invitation to rejoin the band.
