Tim Reid (born December 19 1944 in Norfolk, Virginia) is an American actor and film director best known for his roles in prime time television programs.
Reid's starring roles include DJ "Venus Flytrap" on WKRP in Cincinnati, Simon & Simon, Frank's Place, Snoops, Sister, Sister and Linc's. More recently, he has focused on projects that highlight social issues, such as For Real. Reid and his wife, actress Daphne Maxwell Reid, currently own and run New Millennium Studios in Petersburg, Virginia.
Reid also starred as a reccuring guest on FOX's hit comedy series That 70's Show.
In 1988, Reid won an award from Viewers for Quality Television Awards as "Best Actor in a Quality Comedy Series" in Frank's Place. In 1990, the same role earned him an Image Award for "Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series".
He has directed various television programs as well the film Once Upon a Time...When We Were Colored based on the novel by Clifton L. Taulbert.
Reid is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. the nation's oldest Black greek-lettered organization.
Reid's wife, actress Daphne Maxwell Reid, played "Aunt Viv / Vivian Banks" on The Fresh Prince of Bel Air from 1993-1996.
