Tokyo Metropolitan Television Broadcasting Corporation (Tokyo MXTV) is the only commercial television station in Tokyo, Japan that exclusively serves the city. As such, it competes with TBS, NTV, Fuji Television, TV Tokyo, and TV Asahi, all of which being flagship stations of national networks. Tokyo MXTV was founded in April 30, 1993, and broadcasts first commenced on November 1, 1995. Shareholders include the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and Sony. Every week, Tokyo MXTV airs the press conferences of Tokyo Govenor Shintaro Ishihara. Tokyo MXTV is the broadcast home to soccer side FC Tokyo and baseball's Hanshin Tigers. Notably, Tokyo MXTV aired the second season of The Big O.
