The correct title of this } is }}}. The initial letter is capitalized due to [Naming conventions #Lower case first lettertechnical restrictions].
toothpaste for dinner is a black-and-white webcomic created by the artist known only as Drew. The comic was launched on September 2 2001, blending a unique mix of social commentary, cynicism, and humor.

A new drawing is posted every day at midnight. Each comic features very poorly drawn people, with the comic's characteristic lopsided heads, appearing with short captions or dialogue. The style of humor varies wildly. Some comics make complex and satirical jokes, while others feature no more than a ridiculous pun or sight gag. Each cartoon is entirely self-contained.

While the comics are free, merchandise including acrylic paintings, shirts and bags are also sold on the comic's website.

Art

Contrary to the common misconception that the art for toothpaste for dinner is drawn using a computer, it is exclusively drawn with ink on paper and scanned for the Internet. Drew exclusively uses Uni-ball pens to create the stick figures characteristic of the comic. Although the art is primarily black and white, a color comic is occasionally posted.

Characters

Robarb

toothpaste for dinner does not have a continuing plot from comic to comic, but Robarb has appeared more than once. The only character referred to by name, Robarb is drawn only from the shoulders up because "he looks too distractingly silly to be drawn with an actual body". [link] Robarb is a cannibal [link] who keeps children in his "crawl space". As of June 2006, he is rarely seen.[link]

Bigfoot

The legendary Sasquatch has also appeared in several of the cartoons. Bigfoot is often portrayed as a "fish out of water", attempting to cope with the rigors of modern human society. [link] When confronted, Bigfoot will make a not-so-subtle reference to "eating your face/head off". [link] Also, he finds the term "Yeti" to be offensive [link] and has composed a list of "What Makes Bigfoot Mad". [link]

Politics

For the 2004 election, Drew of toothpaste for dinner co-organized with wife Natalie Dee an Internet contest called Get Off The Internet And Vote that encouraged people to vote on Election Day 2004. The contest was sponsored by Guster, KOMPRESSOR, and White Ninja Comics, among others. The contest was extremely successful, bringing in over 3,000 entrants, well over the expected few hundred.
