Toran and Bayta Darell

Toran and Bayta Darrell are fictional characters in Isaac Asimov's The Foundation Series of stories and novels.
Toran was born on Haven and married Bayta who was born on Terminus and so a true Foundationer and also a descendant of Hober Mallow.
Toran is depicted as a rather weak character, whilst Bayta turns out to be one of the heroines. They are sent by Kalgan to seek possible support from the Mule. They end up rescuing the Mule (in his disguise of Magnifico the clown) with the help of Captain Han Pritcher, and flee via Haven with Ebling Mis to Trantor where Ebling Mis tries to find the location of the Second Foundation to warn them of the Mule's power. Bayta realises that Magnifico is the Mule and kills Ebling Mis, just before he can reveal the location of the Second Foundation.
Asimov has revealed that the character of Toran was based on himself, whilst Bayta was based on Gertrude, his first wife.
