Toronto Blueshirts were a professional National Hockey Association team that played in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
History
Les Canadiens, based in Montreal, was a founding member of the NHA in the 1910 season. However, the Club Antique-Canadien, seeking admission to the NHA for the 1911 season, threatened suit for trademark infringement, and were admitted to the league, taking over the Haileybury franchise and renaming it the Montreal Canadiens. The franchise was subsequently owned by controversial Toronto businessman Edward J. Livingstone, who operated the team as the Ontarios and Shamrocks beginning in the 1913 season, until its merger with his Blueshirts (previously the Renfrew Creamery Kings/Millionaires) in 1915. The team was forced to fold in 1917 as the other then team owners revolted against Livingstone and formed the National Hockey League.
