Torrent is a municipality located within the metropolitan area of the city of Valencia (capital of both the province and autonomous community of Valencia, Spain). It is the second-largest municipality of the Horta Oest district, with approximately 72,660 inhabitants (2005 figures). It is situated some 7 km from Valencia city proper, to which it is connected via the [valencian subway].
Government
The city mayor (as of 2003, due for re-election in 2007) is Josep Bresó Olaso, from the PSPV (Labour Party of the Land of Valencia), the party which has held control (in coalition with the PSOE) of the municipal government in Torrent since 1987.External links
